What is your favorite race? The Buzzard Biathlon at Hinckley Reservation
What is something most people don’t know about you? I can identify different species of pill bugs. Exciting stuff!!
What’s the best advice you would give? Stop making so many plans. Just wing it.
What’s one thing that jacks you up? Watching the sprint finishes of the Tour de France
What makes you relax? Riding my bike and dog walking
Greatest accomplishment in life: In college I got a higher grade than my now fiancé in animal bio lab. It’s the one and only time I’ve beaten him academically and I don’t let him forget it!
What race(s) have you won? Buzzard Biathlon 2007
Tell a little about yourself: I’ve been on a swim team since I was 5 years old. In high school I qualified for States. Equipped with the advantage of being completely comfortable in the water and with the delusional thought that anyone can bike and run, I decided to sign up for the Cleveland Super Sprint Triathlon in 2006. I was 3rd out of the water, 60th on the bike, 40th on the run. I then realized that maybe you DO need to train, and there began my triathlon racing. Since 2010 I have had to switch disciplines and am now racing duathlons. I had brain surgery in 2005 to remove a tumor, 5 years later I had a seizure. Due to the risk of seizing amid a mass start, my neurologist has since banned open water swimming -there goes my swim advantage! Running is by far my least favorite discipline and it was difficult to get used to the transition from swim bike run to run bike run, but I am enjoying it more with each race. More importantly, at least I can still get out there and race!
