weekend results: duathlon national championships at Powerman Ohio, and Akron Marathon

A big congratulations go to Scott Zubricky for a great showing at the USAT Duathlon National Championships. He finished 18th in his age group. Scott said that while he was pleased with his improvement over the summer, he had hoped for more out of this race. He finished the first run in 8th, and held on to a nice fast bike time. The course is famously hilly, and the uphills on the second run gave Scott some cramps that he couldn’t shake. 18th in the country is an impressive result for a first season in multisport! Great job this summer, Scott.

Planning to run just the first 20 miles to train for the New York Marathon, Aaron Rood said he had one of “the days runners look for” and ran to a PR 2:53 at the Akron Marathon on Sunday. He got to 23 miles, and was ready to call it a day, but then realized that all he had to do to break the three-hour mark was finish the last 3 miles in 30 minutes, so he kept the pace on for a great performance. Aaron finished fifth in his age group and 30th overall.
