Edinboro Triathlon

The Edinboro Triathlon was held this weekend, in a slightly abbreviated format. Because the water in the lake had high bacteria counts, the event was held as a bike-run duathlon, with a time-trial start. Spin/Second Sole’s Jim Lamastra is always a favorite at any event, even one without a swimming leg, so it’s no surprise that he finished the 25-mile bike course in under an hour with the fastest bike split in the race. He followed that with an impressive 39:40 10k run. Cleveland’s Kevin Park started 15 seconds behind Jim, and passed him with a mile to go in the run. Although Jim tried to stay with him for the last mile, Kevin pulled away and won the event. Jim took an admirable 2nd overall. Congratulations to Kevin for a great race!

Brian Stern had the second fastest run split of the day, racking up a 36:16 on his way to fifth overall and first in his division. Marty Mason was 10th overall and 3rd in his division. Congrats to these guys for incredible performances and dealing with a goofy race situation!
