This Wednesday is National Girls and Women in Sport Day! Five Seasons Sports Club in Westlake is hosting events all day to celebrate, starting at 6am with a free breakfast. Athletes from our team will be part of a panel in the evening discussing training for endurance events– like triathlon and marathon.
Other events include injury prevention and diet information, along with an array of local vendors. The full schedule and more information below the fold…

Five Seasons Family Sports Club will recognize National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 3rd by highlighting the achievements of local sportswomen.
Guests will address the needs, questions and concerns of female athletes of all ages throughout the day in an event open to club members, their guests and the community.
The day will kick off early, with a 5:45 a.m. group exercise class and grab-and-go breakfast provided by Panera Bread. Beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, Five Seasons staff will offer free tennis clinics, cooking demonstrations, and Q&A sessions on topics ranging from sports injury prevention to triathlon training.“National Girls and Women in Sports Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognize how far women have come at all levels of sports,” said Mary Schrad, Five Seasons’ Chief Club Officer – herself a former professional basketball player and NCAA women’s basketball coach. “We hope to give the inspiring stories of local girls and women the wider recognition they deserve.”
Among the day’s highlights:Organic holistic cooking coach Dina Boyer on healthy eating at noon and at 5 p.m.
Smoothies and samples from Liquid Planet
Morning and evening free throw contests for women and girls with CCO Mary Schrad
Women’s compass tennis tournament at 12:30 p.m.
Fitness fashions, jewelry and free mineral make-up application (3-7 p.m.)
USTA Quick Start Tennis Clinic for ages 5 to 12 (4-5 p.m.)
Muscle Activation Technique specialist Kim Brody
Members of the Spin/Second Sole Multisport TeamAt 5:30 p.m., Five Seasons hosts a presentation by the two top-ranking girls tennis teams in the state, Westlake High School and Magnificat High School, whose coaches are also tennis pros at Five Seasons.
