The Cleveland Velodrome is well on its way to becoming a reality.  Just a small matter of several million dollars stands between now and one of the world’s premier cycling facilities.

In the next several weeks, the board of the Velodrome project is meeting with city officials to continue the process of securing the majority of funding for this ambitious project.  The catch, though, is that they need to see a groundswell of local support.

The best way to show your support is to donate to the project.  It doesn’t have to be much– just show that you believe in the idea.  It’s not so much the dollars– at this point– as people.  And, if you can, they’re looking for 150 people to join the Founders Club, a unique opportunity to get involved at the start with a $1000 contribution.  Read below for more information.

Whether you are an occasional rider or a seasoned racer, cycling is not just an activity we engage in, but also a lifestyle and over time becomes part of our own identity. Because of this, cyclists share a passion for our sport that is second to none. And mile after mile, no matter how hard the ride, we have conditioned ourselves to keep pedaling and know our efforts will be rewarded.

It is that passion that has led us to embark on an ambitious project that will not only provide a year-round training center for area cyclists, but also change the landscape of one of our historic neighborhoods and lift the spirit of an entire region.
Fast Track Cycling, Inc., a Cleveland-based non-profit organization, recently entered into a purchase option agreement to acquire nine acres of land in Slavic Village to develop the Cleveland Indoor Velodrome and Athletic Facility.

The 150,000 square foot indoor facility features a 250 meter Olympic quality banked oval cycling track or Velodrome, plus
75,000 square feet of state- of-theart turf
20,000 square feet of multi-purpose courts
a sports bar, coffee bar and pro shop

Now that the site has been selected, the 14 member Board of Trustees and numerous other volunteers have commenced multiple fundraising campaigns to secure:

$5,000,000 of federal stimulus money;
$2,500,000 of naming rights and other corporate sponsorships;
$850,000 from the cycling community, matching grants and other equity;

As cyclists or multi-sport athletes, we need your support!

Without your support, this project will not happen. Fast Track Cycling is sending out a call to arms to the cycling community by announcing our Founders Club. The Founder’s Club consists of 150 individuals who support the project at the $1,000 level. The success of the Founders Club will help secure an additional $450,000 of matching grants and demonstrate to other funding sources that the project has deep grassroots support for our goal.
