SSSMST’s Jen Petkovsek did a bit of long course training in the hills of Ohio Appalachia and ended up with a half marathon PR!
The CTC (Cleveland Triathlon Club) Long course group headed to Athens, OH for a training weekend. Saturday we had a great 56 mile ride with approx. 2400 ft elevation. The roads were lightly traveled, mostly smooth and beautiful! I highly recommend riding down there. We followed “Tom’s Trillium tour” route. Sunday was the Athens half marathon. A while back after learning it was a flat, fast course I had aspirations of a PR but in the midst of training, no taper, and riding Saturday I wasn’t sure what to expect. I figured I’d start out with that goal and see how I felt. Apparently I felt great! Ran a PR of over 5 minutes! I was so elated after the race. Now I know my run is in good shape…time to get working on hills on the bike!
As long as there was a stop at Jackie O’s, I think we’re good here.
Big congrats to Jen!
