Kevin Krol
Currently living in: Bay Village
Goals for the 2014 season: Resume racing on a regular basis and possibly return to half iron distances
“A” races for 2014: American Zofingen, Royalview Rumble, Savageman
What is your favorite pre-race ritual? Watching overly wound-up triathletes go nuts. And the Breakfast of Champions: Kona Crunch PR Bar and Coca Cola!
What is your greatest accomplishment as an athlete? Never having a DNF in a race result.
What is your biggest challenge in reaching your goals this year? Being completely healthy!
What is your favorite triathlon distance? Why? They all have their merits: Spints are fast and hard, but done before you have a chance to blink. Olympic combines the best of sprint and half iron distance. Half’s are fun because there is time to sort things out on the race course. Iron distance takes a lot of time and huge commitment to get through the training.
What is your favorite? Swim, bike or run? Bike. Definitely.
What is your biggest influence in training? Wanting to be fast. Faster than him.
What is your favorite thing about living in NE Ohio? People are pretty genuine. And I really, really enjoy the weather once we shed winter.
What is the best advice you could give to a new triathlete? Have fun with what you’re doing. Change things up frequently and don’t take it too seriously.
Do you train in the morning, or at night? Usually mornings. It’s so much easier before the world wakes up.
What is one thing you’ve done to make finding time for training easier? Getting up early and having a workout done before you have to go to work, send kids to school, etc
