The multisport contingent at the first annual ‘Cross my Heart CX race had a very respectable showing! The course was very fun– fast and flowing in some parts, tight and technical in others. The signature feature had to be the 9-mile long runup, which has been variously named “Death” and “The Hill of Despair” by different bloggers. With music crankin’ and a crack support crew of volunteers, this was one of the best CX races the region has seen.
Scott Zubricky surprised everyone with his second place in the beginner men– we should have learned by now that Scott should never race in anything called “beginner.” We have to give props to local multisporter Rob Reddy, who rode a flat-bar road bike with aerobars and slick tires– wow. Nacho, Marty and Bruce did the Masters race, where Bruce finished just out of the money. Marty had a great race, duking it out with guys on much lighter bikes for the whole race. Andy and John got demolished by a top field of Expert men– the largest “A” field in Northeast Ohio so far this year– but at least they weren’t sandbagging! Everyone had a great time and we’re excited to return next year!
Thanks to Brandy and Andrea for helping out!
