Brian Stern finishing in 2nd place at Fairport

Last weekend, Joe Bush and Brian Stern raced the Lighthouse Triathlon in Fairport Harbor.  For anyone who hasn’t done this race, you should consider it.  It’s put on by Lake County Metroparks, and it’s really very well done.  The venue is nice, the staff is professional, and the entry fees are cheap.  Joe and Brian did very well, with Brian taking 2nd Place overall in the race.  Joe was right behind him, taking 7th overall and 2nd in his age group.

Also last weekend, Lauren Trocchio had the good fortune to be volunteering at the Urban Epic Triathlon in Portland, which was a race used by several pros as Olympic tuneup.  She had this to say about her day…

I was STOKED to be the one to check-in Becky Lavelle’s bike.  I sheepishly asked how she was doing as I put my paws all over her bike worth more than my car.  She checked in her own gear– no entourage except some family accompanied her, and she was very cool and down to earth. She asked for a few tips and who am I to say to no Becky… okay, maybe not.

Anyway, she obviously pulled out the win for women.  A little fog delayed the race a bit but otherwise the day was gorgeous! The race took place almost entirely in downtown Portland, and the transition area was in an old warehouse. They wrap up the day with a terrific festival and live music.  And 100’s of tourists line the streets to get a glimpse of the craziness!
