This weekend is your last opportunity to participate in a local tri or du until next year!!!!  HFP Racing will host a slew of races at Portage Lakes State Park in Akron.  On Saturday there is a Women’s Only Triathlon, a Kid’s Triathlon and Alan’s Elite Race.  Alan’s Elite Race is unique in the fact that it is composed of three mini triathlons or duathlons  raced back to back.  Each competitor swims 250 meters, bikes 7 miles and runs a 2k three times.  The next race starts 5 minutes after the last finisher.  On Sunday, there will also be the hilly Portage Lakes Tri/Du.

On the road, The Prayers for Maria 5k takes place on Saturday.  The proceeds from this race go towards the Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation.  On Sunday, the Metroparks Zoo is hosting a 9K race for Maggie’s Place.  Maggie’s Place is a community that provides houses of hospitality for pregnant and parenting women who are alone on the streets.  If you don’t want to race, you can watch your dog compete in the Cruise for Critters 5k and Pooch Parade.  The costume competition will be priceless!

Finally……..cross races.  This weekend will involve travel.  OVCX is hosting a 2 day race series called Kings CX which will take place outside of Cincinnati.  You can also travel to Michigan for the Michigan Double Cross weekend.
